Decisions Decisions - One X or S3

I have read all the reviews & the One X vs S3 threads but still can't make a decision which phone to get.
I have never used an android device & unfortunately I don't know anyone with either handset for me to try first hand. I went to a few MTN & Cell C stores but they did not have actual handsets for me to look at.

For those that were in the same boat as me which phone did you choose & why?

I can get either with MTN on the Anytime 200 contract. I still don't get why the 75mb is for 12 months only :confused:

S3 - R399 - 12% corp discount plus 75mbx12
One x - R349 - 12% corp discount plus 75mbx12

Each has it's issues

S3
Body seems rather flimsy
Read on a few threads that the silver strip comes off

One X
Wifi reception issues
Non removable battery & no expandable storage.

Take the One X.

Sense is way better than touchwiz.
 
I'm in the same boat. Not sure which I should take. On looks alone Motorola Razr is the prettyest by far, but it does not have Ice Cream Sandwich. And Lumias are out since they arent't getting WP8. Or wait for iphone5? - Really do not want the iphone though.
 
It is a difficult decision... I really wanted to get the HTC (I had a HTC Hero which I loved), but the Wifi issues, and no MicroSD slot put me off :( I want to be able to load all my music on the phone.

So I was ready to get a S3 this weekend, but they only have them in white :( So I might wait for other colours to become available first.

Who cares about the UI, one launcher and its all gone.

It comes down to build quality and specs.

Not a Samsung fan so I will be bais and say go One X.
 
Just a note for you. The corporate discount does not apply to amortized deals.

I went for the one x because I think it has better build quality and just feels better in the hand. But I did not care to much for expandable storage, and I never buy additional batteries anyway.
I'm happy with the one x. There is also price to factor in.

You have to make the decision based on what you are looking for in the phone.
 
I wondered about the same thing. I gother the S3 and I'm not having any regrets so far.
I don't want to give you a biased opinion but I'm really blown away by this phone man. Maybe I'd say the same bout the one x if I got that instead.
The battery isn't as good as my previous bb but it's expected with a phone with such a large sceen. I believe the s3 has a bigger battery than the one x but Im not sure how they compare in power usage (I also haven't tried a power monitoring app yet).
I will admit I am considering a second battery and if I were to save stone series and movies the extra memory would be cool.
Ultimately they both great phones and it's up to you to decide.

I currently own an HTC Mozart & it has taken abuse from my 3yr old and is still going strong. I am not sure the S3 would survive???

Logic says get the HTC for the sturdy build, fixed battery & storage is not an issue but why oh why is something inside me saying get the S3.

@Bevonk, the Note is just too big for me.

Nothing wrong with your instincts boet. My best mate would choose HTC over Samsung because he has has a good experience with them. To each his own.

I had a similar thread.
And as someone mentioned to me, you already know what phone you want.
Just go and get it. You won't be disappointed by either choice.

I think the top dog is the s3, but something about HTC appeals to me a bit more.
 
Both phones are great, you cant make a mistake with either of them.

But Samsung actually give you tons of extras with their app store & freebies with their phones.

With my Samsung Galaxy S2, I got Walk&Drive navigation for free & the Samsung Dive web site works 100% if you wish to track a stolen phone, want to unlock the screen or make it ring really loud to find it.

Just sweetened the deal for me. :)

HTC made me pay R350 for Walk&Drive licence, they removed Africa and South Africa from the htcsense.com web site (but you can still create a UK account) & web site sucks on slowness.

So I went with Samsung & very happy with my choice. Oh & they have lots of competitions for big screen LED TVs, etc...as long as you have a Samsung phone. ;)

I'm also in the process of deciding, upgrading in the next couple of days. One X has better build quality and just looks better, SIII wins on battery life and expandable storage.

Think it's going to go down to which of the two is in stock, don't feel like waiting 2-3 weeks for new stock(MTN).
 
Hi guys... I had an HTC one x for 2 days.. Had to give it back cost there was a problem with the illumination on the home icon... Waited 3 weeks and syllabus not stock at auto pages so just went for the S3... Both phones are awesome.. The one x has better build quality and sense is better than touchwiz.. But apart from that I have to say that the S3 trumps the one x.. Sure its instead but. Good case with take care of that... Better battery life, sd card, better backup service.. Some cool features like smart stay and smart tags... The list goes on.... I don't like touchwiz so I downloaded nova launcher and it works great... Buy the S3.. U won't regret it.. And I am coming from a bb to this.. What a JUMP!

thanks everyone, I have decided to get the S3. The kid in me wins throwing logic out the door :D
