Deep cycle batteries.

That cycle life is amazing for a lead calcium battery meant for vehicles. More unbelievable then amazing though.

So what can you recommend for R1500 to R2000 per 105Ah battery because I'm not having much luck finding anything else..?

Apparently there are two types. The sealed maintenance free unit is the lead calcium which is also 105Ah. Then there is another 105Ah which is normal lead acid deep cycle battery which is low maintenance. That is the ones that the specs are for that I posted apparently. By the way I didn't ask him after our convo he clarified that there were two ones by himself.
 
To date the best "cost vs performance" batteries I could find is the Trojan T-105.
It is a 6V @ 225Ah unit. Mostly used for golf carts and other traction applications.
Normal pricing around R2k each.
Please note they lead acid, so you will have to check water levels at least monthly.

For me lead acid is way better than gel batteries, as you can charge and discharge lead acid at a much faster rate.

All these 105Ah batteries is basically the same, high cycle or deep cycle. Guaranteed to last less than a year :/

So you need four of them to build a 24V 105Ah bank at around R8k?

You will have 24v 225ah (C100) iirc 185Ah C5. Price is closer to 2k5 incl. And make sure to get the -RE version.

Just do not come and complain in less than a year about the poor quality battries that do not last!

I setup 2 x 102Ah Royal batteries with a Tedelex inverter just under 6 years ago.
Worked perfectly 24/7 until late last year when my domestic plugged the vacuum cleaner into it.

Did that blow the Tedelex Inverter ? Was it the 600w or 1200w unit ?

What happened to the vacuum cleaner ?

Ye - inverter was dead. Took the batteries with it. Was really p1ssed off.
Nothing up with the vacuum cleaner.

I don't have proof she did that. Only logical thing I can come up with. Home office was clean, and my kit dead.

Rebuilt my kit, and sticking dedicated plugs on it this time.

EDIT: Was the 1200W one.
 
on the lookout for a 600w or 800 inverter, must be 12v. i charged the 160ah battery with my brothers industrial charger from 7pm last night until 6h30 this morniing. taking the battery to a battery place so they can check it out. hopefully they tell me there is nothing wrong with it.

Mike are those 600w or 800w inverters powerful enough to charge the 160ah battery or are those inverters too light?

My inverter is 1000VA/840W. Can charge at 10A or 20A. More than enough me thinks.

nah, phoned them already, no stock in cape town until end of april. is there stock there in joburg. i think the 600w went for like R800.
