That's besides the point , but to prove you wrong, load tests were done and they tested positive, I hooked the same 4 for another bloke and he is running fine for a few months already.

Yes , very good for us, but you guys must stop giving false information.

It is obvious that the guys who have used LA (and don't get much joy from them ) have not configured the system correctly, hence damaging them quickly.

You can even damage a lithium battery quite easily.

no, imo you are way deeper or already have a degraded battery.

Well then I had some really special LA battery if mine ran for 5 years and even then I was getting 8 hours of backup.
Some of my family members who have the same battery, didn’t even ask for replacement as yet.

Not saying one shouldn’t opt for lithium though...

Edit: my inverter shuts off when voltage drops to ~10.4v , which is around 75% dod ?

Were you cycling those batteries every day or just when there was load shedding?
If it was only for the occasional load shedding then 200 or 300 cycles at 75% DoD would last a few years. If you're doing 75% DoD every day most lead acid batteries will die within one year.

Yes exactly, it was not a daily 75% dod.

That's why I don't bother with lithium as the cost doesn't justify the application ( backup power only).

The 48v100Ah LA bank cost was R10k , whereas my 48v100Ah LiFePO4 cost was R24k ( back in 2014 ).

I have a Royal 1150K Lead Calcium that has failed after 9 months.
According to https://batterydistributors.co.za/product/ns60/ (not bought from this supplier) it can handle high charging currents and is designed for life of between 3 to 5 Years on its spec sheet. Stage 6 load shedding killed it.
Warranty is non existent - no-one seems to honour warranty for deep cycle batteries - claim usage is out of their control.

So question is, can these batteries be refurbished? If so who to take it to?
If not any idea of what scrap value should be and who in Johannesburg will give a decent scrap value?

I was REALLY battling to find a replacement Royal battery and eventually settled on a reconditioned one. So far, so good. If it lasts another year or two I'll be happy. I'm running 24v and obviously didn't want to mix & match brands.

If you're ever tempted to go for one of the MANY new ones "for sale" on FB market place, don't. They're all linked to some dodgy pastor in Randburg.

Where are you? Sinetech only sells Royal and Omnipower, they are also in Randburg but I don't think they are in any way associated with a dodgy pastor.
