I am led to believe that this can discover whether your email address has been duplicated. Anyone care to enlighten me?

That url is a parked domain with nothing on it.
What are you talking about?

Sorry but I was reading an article in the Drs waiting room. It caught my eye when the writer discussed having found duplicate of his gmail address. Had to leave it before completion.

came here with my popcorn, but looks like Eskom switched the power off early

think a bit on this

consider the following :

[email protected]
[email protected] is the same. Yes!
BUT
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

(and also any other derivative [meaning the dot is in a different place before the @gmail.com)

and [email protected] is all the same.

Don't believe me? Try it out yourself.

BUT

[email protected] also goes to [email protected]

So how the heck do you duplicate a gmail address?

Simply by substituting I (capital i) with l or 1 (or some other character which looks almost identical, and which won't be picked up with a casual glance)... or by brute-forcing the account you want and take it over, and lock its original owner out.
