Defective iPhone 5S :( Please help [UPDATED WITH PHOTOS]

I bought a new iPhone 5S on contract from an MTN store on the launch day. Two days ago while I was on the phone with someone, I was extremely shocked to see that my screen was covered in horizontal and vertical lines and that it was also very pixelated and hazy. After I ended the call, this disappeared, however, a permanent line at the very bottom screen is still visible throughout phone operation.
The screen is not cracked and the phone is in absolutely pristine condition, as I treat my phones like gold. The phone also restarted on its own shortly after this ordeal.

I can't give you guys a screenshot too - I sent the screenshot to my pc and it had no line in the screen, which means that it's the screen itself and not a software glitch as I had thought it was.

So would this mean that the screen will be replaced if I had to send it in to MTN? Will MTN send it to Apple to have it fixed?

Any advice would be helpful.

Thank you!

Now my phone is completely bonkers. It gradually fades into a white screen full of lines and the writing looks like basic pixels. See the before and after pictures below. Note that the before picture is when I unlock my phone - It is instantly 'pixelated' beforte it fades...

I'm sure MTN will replace my phone now..

Tell MTN its urgent and you need a replacement. They will usually try send it off for diagnostics before replacing, but if you ask them nicely they might just replace it on the spot. Apple devices are not repairable (Well, they are but companies wont do it), so they wont try to repair it

LOL. It's actually the first phone that I've been truly happy with.

It's my first iPhone too and I've had every Android version since cupcake up to Jelly Bean.

Take it to Apple or MTN, they should replace the unit.

I made the mistake of contacting the CORE group first only to find out that cellular service providers deal straight with Apple in the US.

I will be taking my phone in tomorrow. I have a problem though.

Thanks. I though that MTN would send it to Apple first if it was to be repaired?

They should replace the unit. Bad luck, hope you come right.

Thanks, I will be sending it in tomorrow, so hopefully it works out. I have a problem though. These iPhones use nano-sims and I don't have another phone which supports this type of simcard!

Fortunately iPhone warranty claims are a breeze. No repairs, they just replace.

Good to hear this! Thanks.

To be honest, I have heard that from so many people :D It just works. I have an android phone, but apple really did get it right with the new iPhones. They just are perfect

iPhones are not repairable due to the fact that you cannot open them without damaging the device permanently. Thats why SP's usually just replace

They seriously just work!

I really didn't know that. Thanks for letting me know..

Not true, there are screws on the bottom of the device, if you open those the entire device opens up and you can eventually, with some work, get to anywhere in the phone. But ya, generally it is easier for them to give you a new one and let Apple refurbish the old phone and resell it.

Completely forgot about those - I was thinking more about the iPad style where it's impossible to open.
