ok so how do I do the above?

I got complaints from friends and family specially now during the holidays that they can't get hold of me - despite having my phone ON and with me 24/7

they say it does not even ring - goes straight to voice mail - there is no notification that there was even a call to my number so I don't even know I had a call or need to check my voice mail - which I don't want anyway.

so I went to mtn paddocks to get this voice mail thing removed / deleted / deactivated and got advised that I should upgrade my sim card to a 64bit - which I did and it's all working now but the damn voice mail is still active? despite me requesting empty N paddocks to disable it.

is the ussd codes I can run to achieve this? or any other methods.

thanks

If it is on prepaid you need to call 141 and select option 9 I think it is. There you have 4 options. MTN Voicemail LITE, MTN Voice Mail xpress, MTN Voice mail and to deactivate voicemail

call mtn, ask them to reset your sim on their network(call from another mtn sim), then your phone will ring again. I had similar, and that is what they claim they did.

I have connection problems too. Sometimes they get voicemail other times subscriber unavailable.

I'm asking on my own behalf, and others who are on an MTN contract. How do you deactivate voicemail if you are on contract?

As far as I know you can't manually deactivate voicemail for contracts but maybe a 808 consultant would be able to remove MTN Voice mail service on a contract for you.

Hi

You need to call in and ask them to cancel the DCF (Default Call Forward) to voicemail. Unfortunately this cannot be cancelled from the user side.
