I bought a used Dell Latitude 6330 from a charity shop. (so obviously an anonymous donation). I have a receipt. The damn thing has a pre-boot authentication password. Dell wont help me since Im not the original owner and I dont know who the previous owner was. Does anyone work for Dell who could give me the previous owner's details so I can ask them for a ownership transfer or perhaps even the password. Otherwise, can someone get a master password for 1D3B service tags? The free generators on the net only work for older service tags and to risk paying like $34 to $45 dollars for something that might not work or to order a new motherboard from China is a very very last resort. Service tag is JGQSKV1-1D3B. TIA

The bios isnt powered by the battery, its in non-volatile Eprom. Its a laptop. I cant change boot order or anything to run any apps or programs to change the service tag or flash the bios to another version. I cant get into the bios at all without a master password

Question 2: How to Remove BIOS Password on Dell Laptop

Generally, when we want to remove BIOS password on computer, we just need to shut down computer and move battery from mainboard. But it is just applied to compatible computer. For Dell Computer, no matter your computer is taken with RTC or not, there is a PSWD jumper, also called password jumper. Only remove computer battery or clear RTC couldn’t relieve the password sometimes.

So now let’s see how to clear BIOS password on Dell computer.

First we have to make sure that PSWD has two or three needles. For different needle PSWD, the way to clear BIOS password is different.
One: When PSWD is Two Needle

<1> Find out PSWD, and remove power line until main board led turn off.
<2> Remove jumper cap on PSWD, start Dell computer and you will hear the sound of drop. And BIOS password is removed or cleared.
<3> Shut down Dell computer and take back jumper cap to PSWD
<4> Restart computer, and you don’t need to enter BIOS password when you want to access BIOS setting screen.
Two: When PSWD is Three Needle

<1> Find PSWD, and remove power line until main board led turn off.
<2> Move jumper cap of PSWD from 1-2 needle to 2-3 needle, and start computer. You will hear sound of drop.
<3> Shut down computer and retrieve jumper cap of PSWD to 1-2 needle.
<4> Restart computer. Everything is OK.

So far, Dell admin password and bios password reset has been succe

Ive not been able to find any jumpers on the m/board. I think theyve realised jumpers defeat the purpose of security and left them off newer models.

Good luck. Charity is not an excuse for getting stuff from an unknown source.

There are 2 pads on the board that need to be bridges for about 10 seconds, try find the service manual for it, I've had to do a company laptop where the person left on bad terms and wouldn't give us the password
