Dell 3007 screen repair?

Ok, got a positive id on the popped IC thanks to budm, W27D723

Problem is google comes up blank so far as to the manufacturer, spec sheets etc.

Will keep looking.
 
Some good news, thanks to a helpful chap by the name of budm over at the badcaps forum we have found another manufacturer for that IC, Philips semiconductors.

He pulled another identical PSU unit and this one had different manufacturer/marking on the IC, LTA201P.

If you Google "LTA201P SMPS IC"

He further advises that "When that IC blows up, it will usually take out the Gate drive resistor and diode and the MOSFET also."

Now I'm off to hunt for a local supplier for this IC.

Ok, from the Philips site I see you can order them from Avnet Electronics Marketing which has a local presence via Avnet Kopp in SA. I'll get hold of them tomorrow to check if they have stock, should be cheap seeing the euro price is about R7.

Not related to the topic but you got raped I think. There are cheaper panel replacement options out there. Thanks for sharing though.
 
Ok, I have located a source for the IC, only thing is you have to buy them in a pack of 5 but they are very cheap, R54 (excl VAT) for five. (Which mean you will have spares!)

Order that so long and I will get back to you with someone that can do the work for you, will also require some ancillary components that would also have blown in the process but they should be more common & cheap as well.
 
Did you order the ICs?

What is your budget for repairs, I've got a place and CT that is very good with switch mode PSUs but they are not that cheap, they charge R260/30min but according to them it won't be more than 90min. http://microvolt.co.za/ speak to Peter.

If this is too much let me know and I'll try and find someone cheaper with a decent rep.
