Dell joins Microsoft and Novell collaboration

Er, what "customer demand" was that exactly? Microsoft's dubious practice of redefining software standards lies at the core of the interoperability problem, so how exactly are they going to be part of the solution? Vague references to IP infringement and deals like this are just part of Microsoft's current strategy to undermine Linux adoption by businesses and users alike. The only good thing I can see about this is that it's drawing all the cockroaches out of the woodwork.
