So the one lady at our company bought herself a new laptop (for work purposes) when overseas as hers gave up the ghost while she was overseas.

Now her laptop PSU packed up and tripped the entire building's power :D Fun :D

It smells nogal nice - that nice, electrical burnt smell you get when some magic smoke's escaped :D

Now I want to know - will Dell (local) honor the warranty on a PSU even if it's sourced overseas? If they don't then I'm just gonna chuck it away as it won't be financially feasible shipping it off overseas etc just for a warranty swapout.

Dell's carry an international warrantee. So no matter where in the world she is PERMITTING Dell has a support centre in THAT country she can get service.

My one client is a youngster in UNI. Her mother has gone to Saudi to earn better money to get her child an education. One item she(mother) brought back was a nicel lil Dell. With the warrantee that came with that the Dell techie was by us the next day to sort the MB out. ( He changed it right there & then). It did make it easier for him coz we inspected the laptop & informed him what we think the MOST likely problems are.

So yeah even the SA branch honours the warrantees from all over.

Thank you :)

Will be informing Procurement & get it swapped out :D

Good to know Dell has not got an issue with international warranty. Not like other companies that is rotten to the CORE

You do need to note that you do pay extra for that service. If you buy the laptop online from their store you get the option to skip the international warrantee in favour of only a local one. HOWEVER! for that few rand saved the warrantee then drops to a one year & can only be done in one country. NOT a good option if you ask me. If I recall you save less than R500 for less than half the warrantee. Think it was about R350.
