Dell Laptop Repair

One of my buddies has a 17" dell laptop. The laptop has a power button kinda built into the side hinge of the screen. The button has called it a day, so I took the laptop for repairs at one of the local IT places in centurion.

Quoted R1880 to repair the laptop, because they have to replace the entire top cover and front bezel on the screen to fix the power button (which is retarded design, but let's leave that there). He's a musician and when I told him how much it'll cost he cried a little.

Anyone know of some place close to Pretoria where we might have this fixed for cheaper?

What model is the laptop? Some of them are quite easy to repair

You'll notice the power button is on the side of the LCD. That entire power button assembly has gone to crap. There's nothing to push to get the laptop to go on anymore.

Is just the switch broken or the hinge as well?

For all you know the screw holding the pwr button in place might just have fallen out.
