Hi all

I bought a Dell notebook yesterday with a GeForce 525m graphics adapter, but then discovered that it lists 2 display adapters in the device manager. One is the GeForce, and the other is an Intel HD Accelerator or something. The laptop is using the Intel one for some reason, and there's no way to disable it in the BIOS. Any ideas?

yes you need install the right driver, then it will switch to the geforce for 3d applications, some new tech that saves your battery, by using the on board, and switch to geforce when it is needed.

Thanks for clearing that up. I do think it's a quite retarded feature as I almost never carry my laptop around. They should at least include an option to turn it off? (Or there is such an option and I'm just being stupid. :p)

Just keep it plugged in and on the High Performance power setting, it'll always use the Nvidia then.

Just a note, if you try to use the Nvidia while on battery it'll last about 30mins before the battery is dead.

Also updating the drivers is a bit of a pain.

Have a look at http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=191052 post #9

The post relates to a laptop with a 330m in it but works for any Nvidia laptop display adapter, you just need to find your card's hardware ID and use that instead of the 330m hardware ID.
