Dell Monitors - Naming convention ?

Which is better than the other?

I feel like I can only judge on price :/

I'm guessing S2817Q that is a lower series ?

Primary difference being the P and U monitors have height, tilt, swivel and 90° pivot. S only have tilt, with a fixed base
U is better quality, and thinner bezels than P.

The 17 and 18 usually imply generation. And the Q is is the 4k/UHD designation.

Last thing, since you guys know the brand so well, how are Dell compared to Samsung? I have an S27C750 which, aside from FullHD, seems to be a decent panel.

I won't get a bump in resolution, but everything else like colour, refresh rate or contest end up suffering?

I could never really tell the difference between the U and P series. Thanks for the info.

The 17 and 18 etc seem to be the year the model was first introduced. Newer isn't always better though, so always read reviews.
The S tend to be TN panels, and the U and P tend to be IPS. The gaming monitors will typically be S.

I only base my answer on reviews, but the P2715q I chose was still the best value for an accurate 4k monitor 2 years after it was released.

My previous 2 displays have been samsung TN LCD screens, and they performed as expected and are still going strong 8 years later and I have no complaints. I don't really have a preference between the brands and will chose whichever model suits my needs. The dell warranty might be better though?

SE series is a very nice general purpose series with high contrast PWA panels. Better for playing movies than IPS.

BTW, Do you know that U2412M is a currently selling model (still)?
