I need your guys expertise urgently please. I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop. It is in excellent condition and it has 4GB Ram and 500GB HDD. It has Windows Vista on. I have just received a laptop from work, so really don't need two as I have a home PC as well. I want to sell it, but how much would be a reasonable price? I've seen it advertised from about R12k. It is 5 months old. Please respond urgently! Thanks
 
I bought one recently for around R8000. While it only had 2GB of memory and a 250GB HDD it did come with a free upgrade to Win7 Ultimate 64bit. I'd say you could probably sell it for 8K. Not sure where you saw it for 12K but that seems like a rip-off.
 
I wouldn't sell it for R12 000, but I just wanted to see what the new price is. Seeing as my machine is second hand (even if only 5 months old), but also upgraded (memory and hard drive), I wanted to get a feel of the asking price. I've had an offer for R4500, but felt it was too low. What do you think?
 
Can you provide us with further specs? Unfortunately the memory and hard drive specs don't tell us much.

Do you know what CPU it has? And whether or not it has discrete graphics?

What extras does it have? Bluetooth, webcam, wireless-N?

If it has a very-high-end Core 2 Duo or an i7 AND it has a decent graphics adapter, then I'd say R8000 is a fair price. Otherwise, I'd start off around R6000. My general rule is that second hand notebooks are, at most, worth half their retail value when new.

Thanks for all you'll info. I'll try my best to help - I'm so technically blonde! Pse bear with me! OK, it does have bluetooth, webcam and wireless-n. It is a Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz. Here are some of the specs:
