Don't know for how long, but they normally close them after a few hours and I have no idea when they started this open registration session.

you can get torrent files that are 1-2 days old, and you can use them to start your download, but all older torrents(the ones that have been online for more than a day or two and have more users with completed downloads and more users "seeding" than the newer ones - are available to members only.
