Hi all

What is the maximum download speed a torrent should be on a 1MB ADSL line? Or does it depend on the amount of seeds and peers?

P.S If anybody is registered at www.demonoid.com, please PM me an invitation code!

Thanks.

Depends on the seeders.

Also depends, if your using IS(Internet Solutions) or Saix(Telom)

There aren't enough peers/seeds.
Most think just seeds are enough for a quick download, but leechers also affect transfer speeds. You may download the pieces they have already acquired. However, if there are too many leechers, they may already be taking all the speed.

You are saturating your bandwith

You're not uploading enough.
Remember, bittorrent is a sharing protocol. If you're being stingy with the uploads, other clients won't transfer to you. Many clients even tell you that your download rate is proportional to your upload rate. This does seem to be the case in small to medium swarms, but sometimes doesn't apply to large swarms. In any case, be sure to upload as much as you can.

What exactly are you uploading when you torrent? I have seen that I have been uploading constantly @ 30KB/s for a long while before anything gets downloaded?

Are they uploading random files from your computer?

NO, nobody can download something from you unless it is active in your torrent client. Therefor if you download even if it is only a 2mb portion of the bigger file, other people can start downloading that from you. But there must be something there to download.

On a good day, when the bandwidth is flowing, I get about 30 to 38KB, the best days it'll be 50KB and a little over. This is from Demonoid. The external torrents with huge amounts of seeder, and a minimal amount of leechers does very very good.
