Okay guys, im too tired to send PM's, DM's, emails with no response or we have escalated type situation.

I ordered a 2MB uncapped line voice + adsl. Im a completely new subscriber, so that and my credit history im needing to pay the R700 deposit. Fine, well up until yesterday i was not told this

Now i have my order number and username and password etc, which i received via sms.

Yesterday when i spoke to the guy on the line, there was no mention of the R700 deposit. All he said was i would be billed end of November R579 + Pro Rata amount depending on when in October the installation took place. I kept on asking is that all? no installation fee? or anything else. Guy said no, ill get the installation + modem etc. (im now hooked in) of course.

earlier this morning, im contacted and told to pay the R700 deposit, before a technitian is sent to me. This now annoyed the crap out of me, because i havent even started using these guys, and already there are issues.

what further angers me is, that i kept on asking, how and where do i pay this R700, and not a single reply back. Now this has been dragging on for a while now, and this was after i had done an online application 4 times.

i know its a big rant, but i dont know what i should do, as on one hand the one guy said nothing about a deposit, and on the other hand im told to 1st pay the deposit.

any advice guys, how do i go about this, as i know about the deposit, as ive read about that on here. But do i pay it when i was told i dont have to?

Same thing happened to me, was only told after I followed up after placing the order we needed to pay a "holding" deposit before the line was activated. To add, the R700 reflects every month on our bill as a deposit.

We paid the deposit at the Telkom Direct store.
- We were given the below info to make the payment. Group #, System #, Payment code and Control code.

NB! Make the payment within 7 days of the order being placed, I was told that the order will be cancelled if not paid within 7.
 
How soon after you paid the deposit, was a technician sent to you? My only problem is that I'm not near a Telkom direct store, and I've been told I can't make payment online. So I'm a bit concerned now, that I won't be able to make to pay in the next 7 days.

I opted for a self install so no technician. You can pay it at the Post Office as well.
 
My line and installation are all included, as far as I what I was told. So no installation fee. I don't have a voice line as well, so everything will have to be done from scratch. My appointment is for the 3rd November.
 
Go into a store and escalate it.
Demand that you no pay the R700 as the call center person did not inform you that it would be required.
They should sort it out for you.
 
It's a security deposit I had to pay, which they said would get credited back to me(we shall see)
