I have been searching the net for answers on this but can't find anything on this.

I was mooted that Vodacom and Mtn are now allowed to install infrastructure between their base stations themselves. Does snybody know if this is still the case (after clarification made by the ministry on the 1 Feb "deregualtion").

Also why can't vodacom and MTN have their international calling rates why does this need to go through Telkom still. It does not make sense that one has to pay for a cell call and the Telkom international rate.

I have read that MTN is one of the partners in the eastern african submarine cable through their Ugandan operations. Will they be able to sell bandwith in South Africa when the cable is complete or would it still be Telkom and (Maybe) the SNO who has this rirht.

the cell co's can self-provide between base stations - apparently this is not expected to affect retail prices...go figure
