Getting myself a bigger battery, as a result. One if the benefits you won't get on a Samsung is the excellent HTC Sense UI.

Go with HTC. They actually update their software, and lately i have been having my Galaxy S spontaneously turn off after using the Hot-Spot Feature for more than an hour.

I must admit the HTC Desire HD is the most fun I've ever had with a phone!

(And check out my quadrant scores after overclocking the CPU)

Wait for the Galaxy S2. That's what I'm doing.

Then he can just as well wait for the new HTC phones.

It's never a good time to get a new phone, but I'm very happy to use my Desire HD for the next two years.

Like phaktza said earlier, I've never had so much fun with a phone. It rocks!!

The AMOLED screen is irresistible. I don't think HTC can match Samsung in that regard.

The AMOLED screen is nice, but the S-LCD screen is just as nice.

And like a reviewer from www.mobile-review.com said, he prefers the more realistic colors of the S-LCD screen.

It is up to you to decide whether the display is good or bad. In my opinion, which is subjective by definition and based on my own experience, the Desire HD display is better than the Super-AMOLED or the basic AMOLED and yet I can't see much difference between it and a regular TFT display. Unlike the Super-AMOLED, the S-LCD doesn't have an extreme contrast ratio and minimal brightness, and unlike the basic AMOLED, it doesn't get pinkish when the brightness is low.

I'm afraid I don't quite agree with that. Having seen the Samsung Galaxy S and the screens from other phones, the others just don't come anywhere near the AMOLED. It's so crisp and vibrant. LCD seems a bit washed out.

If u only want to sit and stare @ ur screen (very closely I might add), then the galaxy wins. If u want the best phone out there currently, there is nothing better thn the desire HD. I've had both. No competition. I'd rather have the bigger screen over that brightness.

If a phone's screen was the ultimate deciding factor, we'd all be sporting iFruits. It shouldn't be...

It's not solely on the fact that the screen is far superior than any other phone I've seen yet. The phone itself is also very fast and has really good specs.

Wouldn't mind getting either of these, but there's simply no stock. By the time I might be able to get one of them the new Galaxy might be released, so any e.t.a. on that?

Im in the same boat... HTC Desire HD/Samsung Galaxy S... OR > New Galaxy S2... but not prepared to wait forever...
Im off to VodaWorld today to scout these phones and opinions...

This is a joke right!!! is someone trying to comp the DHD to the Galaxy S ... sigh DHD hands down!!!!!

Yeah but at the same time, the Samsung's colours seem too saturated, they're actually unnatural. The greens are like, neon green. They still need to work on that a bit for me. My favourite is a nice IPS display, even if it is a tad undersaturated.
