DevDays Jhb 2011

The internet has made these things pointless.

You can download everything from channel 9 if you have the time to watch it.

Stopped going to these amateur shows. Long boring powerpoint slides with stats that show this is the mobile era blah blah blah. Then when they finally get round to a demo its a boring Hello World demo.

Can get a far better tutorial off the web.

Oh...and the pens you get are rubbish!

Dude don't spoil my fun. :D I reckon we should all go at least once, if only to say "I never want to go again". :) The sessions look quite interesting, actually.

OK, I attended the WP7 sessions - they were informative, and there was some good stuff about the mango update, but if you were watching twitter #DevDaysSA you would have noticed a lot more coming from the MVC3 and VS2010/TFS sessions.

I didn't win anything either, despite 2 XBoxes up for grabs. Food was good, coffee was good, weather could have been better.

WebMatrix is a stunning little app for Hobbyists, in both C# (with Razor) and PHP. Nice end to end solution for the small devs. Add to that the AfriHost R29 offer, and you have a nice starter option.

I also went and strangely enough I also attended the WP7 sessions. I thought it was quite good and I look forward to downloading Mango and playing around a bit. Rudi seems to know his stuff and you know it's nice knowing I've got his e-mail address now should I ever require a tip or two.

I also attended the Expression Blend session and I felt bad for the poor Australian guy. His Apple stopped right clicking every time he right clicked within Expression Blend. It was a bit of a nightmare session for him. But he was funny, handled it all well and ended up saving it all and getting through a lot of information. I've never used Expression Blend and won't anytime soon but it was nice to see it in action.

As Raithlin said, the coffee was really good (I will go again just for the coffee) and so was the food. It's a day away from the office (Yay! Plus it was my birthday so it was like a present) and it was nice to see what MS is up to and see their current and future offerings in action.

I was at the CT devday... everything was ok except for the azure speaker... Damn that guy just put everyone to sleep! I'm sure no1 pitched for the remaining two sessions after that... zzzzzzzz

I went last year, wouldn't have minded going again this year if UJ had decided to pay again but they didn't, such is life :)
