Why is this attempted robbery and shooting more spectacular than the other 100000000000 in malls?

Because when shops in shopping malls fleece customers, they don't attempt to rob customers - they just do it?

Jewellery store owner shoots at robbers during Pretoria shopping mall heist

Pretoria – There were chaotic scenes at Grove Mall on Thursday morning when the owner of a jewellery store shot at a group of about five to seven suspects who robbed the store and got away with several valuable items.

"There is information that suggests the owner [of the store] did manage to shoot at the intruders and currently we suspect that one of the suspects was injured," police spokesperson Captain Daniel Mavimbela said.

Several glass display cases in the jewellery shop were broken and shattered glass was strewn across the store, which spilled out of the entrance.

Mavimbela said an undisclosed amount of jewellery was taken.

Police added that all of the suspects managed to get away.

Terrified shoppers scattered around the mall when shots rang out.

Two witnesses said they heard between four to five gunshots.

The crime scene has been cordoned off and the police’s forensic unit combed the store for evidence.

The rest of the mall is still open and its business as usual for shoppers.

Are you allowed to carry guns in Pretoria shopping centres? I know Pretoria can be a rough place but really ...

For those wanting an actual update, seems the owner decided not to be a victim and shot at the robbers.
Confirmed he hit one, who left a nice trail of blood out in the parking lot. Hope the hospitals are on the lookout, or that he vreks (since dies is too polite to use on these parasites)

Those silly little "no guns allowed" signs are not legal, and doesn't seem to worry the robbers, does it?
All they can do is use their right of admission to ask you to leave. Which would probably lose them thousands of customers.
