DFA Fibre are busy laying fibre cable outside my home but they are impossible to get hold of (left messages, sent email via their website etc). As far as I am aware they dont supply a service to home users, so one would have to go through an ISP, but the few I have contacted have been no help.
So basically if you have fibre outside your gate, how would you go about getting fibre installed?

Is there a DFA fibre rep on the forum....?

Contact [email protected] from Cool Ideas. He might be able to help.

SADV will not be able to help. I owned an apartment in an estate where they provided services. When I sold the place, I contacted them, since there is a DFA manhole 3 meters from the boundary wall of my house, and SADV is DFA's open access component. No luck, they don't deal with individual houses. Maybe sometime in the future.

Let us know what Cool Ideas says. I contacted them maybe half a year ago about access on the DFA line, and the cheapest option was R3299 for 24 months for a 5Mbps connection, with a R5500 installation fee. The high cost is due to the fact that these accounts are business accounts, which was all I could be offered at the time. Hope you get a better deal.

Yeah reason why DFA has referred you to SADV is because they are now heading that portion of the business, but they only really do MDU's / Complexes due to the density.

Well SADV also said they don't do individual houses - wonder why DFA are laying a cable then in a road with no business or complexes??

Anyhow @PBCool - do you have any offerings?

They will build routes to link locations or cell towers so if they are passing homes along the way it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately if there is no fibre operator in your area it limits us as your ISP the ability to offer a service.

DFA is busy laying cables in Polokwane at various complexes. Is there any chance of me getting a fibre connection at my house?

Maybe someone on here knows of any reps that do setups with fibre in Polokwane?

Depends on what you are willing to pay, DFA only provides Layer 2 connections. Expect around R4k for a 5mbps back to Teraco, then you will still need internet bandwidth to break out with.

Not really a price point home users are interested in usually.

I guess complexes you are referring to residential complexes not business precinct.

If the fibre goes to residential complexes and it goes pass your property then arrangement can be made to accommodate all the properties along the route but that has to be during the initial planning stage of the project.

At this point I doubt you will be accommodated unless those who requested the fibre asked for that kind of provison which I doubt as well, otherwise they would have approaached you already.

Yip. Residential complexes. I've registered my interest for fibre on every available website I know if. I'm yet to receive a call.
