A DFA line runs along the border of our property and I've recently heard we are able to connect up to their network. I received a quote yesterday for R8k connection (which I can sort of understand), and then R6300pm for a 50MB line. Is this a realistic price or is this ISP (who I've never heard of before) smoking the good stuff?

Is there another ISP I should contact for this?

Drop me a PM with your address and will get some pricing to you.

Thanks. First impression on Google gives you the impression they are an open network similar to MFN.
They are an open access network - they allow any ISP/telco to use their infrastructure. Their product offering is centred first and foremost around dark fibres (hence the name) - ie. ISPs/Telcos lease dark fibres from point A to B. They're also a managed fibre provider (MEF 2.0, Leased line/dedicated layer 2). All their products are wrapped in SLAs and complex contracts. Finally they do offer some newer GPON based products on a limited scale, with lower SLA levels and an element of "shared" infrastructure - similar to FNOs. Think of DFA as a carrier more than an Open Access network in the sense that MFN/Vuma etc are. MFN have a similar network (albeit strictly L2) - it's their original FTTB and core network and not accessible on their FTTH commercials.

They offer guaranteed uptime SLA tied business Fibre basically. You are not their type of client, rather check with IPS's like Afrihost, Websquad, Cool Ideas etc. and just put your address into their websites and check if you are covered.
