DG834V5 Firmware

hello

I have a Netgear DG834v5 router that i got from telkom, but for a while i have had wireless issues with it, computers connecting via wireless loose connection and could not connect back to the router (they can still connect to a Dlink access point-so its not the computer, I've also tried resetting the router to default), i found a firmware update for it (i think) 1.6.00.33 and it is currently TKV6.00.26. Is there firmware for it because its not a listed product on Netgear's website.

The DG834V5 firmware should be listed on the Netgear website, somewhere. I believe it is the latest version of the firmware for the DG834 router.

In any case, you can try out custom firmware from DGTeam - built specifically for your type of Netgear router. It works great, and might help to solve your issue.
 
The DG834GUv5 has modified Telkom firmware and it isn't listed on Netgear's site. No guarantees that the standard firmware works correctly.

The OP also mentioned wireless which means that it is a DG834G and that he got it from Telkom with firmware TKV6.00.26, which means that it is almost definitely a "DG83GUSP-5TKSAS". There is no later (or any - unless you want to compile it yourself) firmware available from the Netgear site for this model. Trying to install Netgear generic firmware will fail as the router will not allow it to be uploaded.

There are known issues with this model with certain types of wireless connection. Android & Blackberry phones can connect to the router via WiFi only once per router session, in order to reconnect the router has to be restarted which is really irritating.

Thanks - I didn't know that.

I hate it when operators (Telkom, Neotel, Vodacom, MTN) insist on screwing up a perfectly fine device (cellphone, router, modem) by installing their own crappy custom firmware. It screws around with the operation of the device, and also means you can't get the firmware updates directly from the manufacturer (most of the time, or not without lots of hacking and pain).

I try to stay away from such hardware as much as possible. But this then means paying the full price up-front to the manufacturer/retailer, instead of making smaller payments to the operator when they offer it to you over a 24 month contract...
 
sorry for the delay everyone

OK so there isn't really any firmware available,DGteam only has up to the V4 firmware, so i think i'll just have to get a new router.

If you're gonna get a new router, might as well first try DGTeam firmware, no? If it breaks, then oh well... run out and get your new router. If it works, you've saved yourself quite a bit..
 
Has the DGTeam website been taken down? Have they stopped development?

I cannot find DGTeam firmware for my DG834GUv5 ANYWHERE :(

If anyone else has this firmware for this specific model pls PM me. Or does anyone know how I can get the router to ALLOW me to upload the latest Netgear firmware? Every time i attempt it tells me it cant upload un approved firmware?

If I'm not mistaken the v5 have a different chipset (Conexant) than the v4 (Broadcom) and consequently the DGTeam did not release any firmware for that model.
