Would be great if someone could help me with this...
I use Netlimiter 2 to monitor my internet traffic.
I've noticed for some time that my laptop goes crazy on port 53 under the lsass.exe process.
When I'm connected to my home network over WiFi, I see about 100KB/sec
continuous traffic between my laptop and my router on port 53.
When I connect via VPN to my office, the full VPN bandwidth is used by port 53, connecting to the office's DHCP server. (If I connect VPN via a 3G connection and just leave my laptop to idle, I will use up my cap in no time!)
I've been struggling with this for some time.
If I stop the DNS Client service the traffic continues.
If I stop the DHCP Client service the traffic stops.
I guess thats kind-of to be expected. Still I'd love to understand where/why this stream of DHCP activity originates.
Any help would really be appreciated.
