Diablo 3 already??

Was just in Bt Games in Clearwater mall, and on the shelf staring at me in the face is the Diablo 3 picture wrapped around a box. Hmmm, I thought, early promoting maybe...


...until I noticed the big sticker across the front reading "pre-order". So you can pre-order Diablo 3 already? I thought this wasn't to be released until year end or next year even. And to be on preorder indicates that it's arrival is imminent, presumably within the next month or two.

Question is - is this a misunderstanding of sorts, or is Blizzard planning to shock everyone with a nice Easter surprise??

Nah, the shops that actually follow the game market will put up these Pre-Orders up whenever they can. Even on BTGames website they list the release date of Diablo 3 as "Awaiting ETA" . So they don't actually know, but just like us, they know it's coming eventually.

The sooner they know about the demand the better they can prepare how much to order. Besides Diablo 3 is probably gonna be HUGE ..one of them "camping at the shop at midnight" things...

And FYI you can Pre-Order Starcraft II at BTGames also..

well you can't knock him for posting this, I would have done the same. If the game is on pre-order this should mean it is coming fairly soon. To put a game on pre order that is only coming out at the end of the year is just daft.

Game being on pre-order doesn't mean anything starcraft2 is on pre-order since last year already.

Well to me and I am sure a few others it means the release of the game is imminent, sure as hell not 9 months later. That is just stupid from BT games. I wonder how much cash they have racked up so far on the pre-orders.

Yep, I've seen the starcraft 2 preorder for some time now, but not being a follower of starcraft, I assumed it was expansions, or something or other (heard there was something like 3 starcraft releases coming up, and not being interested, I assumed it was for something like this).

To have something on pre-order up to/ over a year before being released is simply stupid - what happens if the developers decide to abandon the project for an additional two years to work on something else? Then basically I would have pre-booked a game three years in advance.... This just an example, but ffs, if something goes on pre-order, I'm not expecting to have to wait a year before I get it...

Leisure suit Larry Box office bust has been on pre order since August last year and is only getting released next friday. Pre orders don't mean its imminent it just means the local supplier are already taking orders from the retailers.

But I do find it surprising that Diabalo 3 and starcraft is already on pre order while they haven't added Dragon Age to the list yet.

You don't need to pay the pre order till a day before release so you aren't losing any money but BT can use the amount of pre orders to get credit,ect because they can prove to the banks they will have +- that amount coming in in the future.

Nah its just a nice way that bt games play on peoples anticipation for a game. If I've got it correctly you pay like R10 for the preorder and they just make sure the keep a copy for you when the game comes out. I remember when I bought my Orange box back when it came out.. 2007 i think... they already had preorders for Rock Band. 2009 and still no rock band in SA.

You only pay R10 if you preorder in the shop. If you preorder online they keep your order and you have till close of business the day before launch to pay.

Should have seen the dissapointment when I realised the game was on pre-order and now only find out that its just the way Bt Games does things... months or years even before the actual release!!!
