When will Diablo III be released?
It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players. We're aiming to release Diablo III on both Mac and Windows simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages. We'll have more details to share about countries, languages, and specific dates as we get closer to release.
At BlizzCon 2009 it was revealed that Blizzard's two releases next year will be "World of WarCraft: Cataclysm" and "StarCraft 2." "Diablo 3" will likely see a 2011 release, which basically takes it out of the running for games I can genuinely be excited about.
As usual, the release date for any Blizzard production is kept under wraps for as long as possible. What is known is that Diablo III is behind StarCraft II in the development cycle. A StarCraft release for 2010 and a Diablo III release in 2010/2011 seems probable, and the BlizzCon 2008/BlizzCon 2009 information also seems to indicate this.
Still, the level of polish makes it harder to estimate development time left. Any other dates or rumours are that -- rumours.
2013 has to be a joke, I am sure it will be here before the end of the year.
Yay! Now will you STFU?
Blizzard made DotA? Go on, pull the other one.EH!!!! Completely, totally, utterly Wrong!
If it wasn't for WC3 the best games ever wouldn't have been made. DotA & HoN.
Yeah, and every time EA belts another copy of its repeatedly franchised crap out, it also makes millions. The litmus test of a good game is not how well it sells.sorry guys, but Blizzard can NEVER fail at a game. even if D3 sucks totally (which it won't) it will still make millions.

Sure, blizzard made a good map editor that was highly customisable, but that doesn't make the core game any less sucky. They spent more on a few cutscenes than they did on the rest of the game, and for what?
The core game was not fun.

The Blizzard that made Diablo 2 and Starcraft is no more. Those core design members have moved on to other jobs and other places. And after reading what they plan to do with Starcraft 2, I'm already despairing. I don't think Diablo 3 is going to do Diablo 2 justice either. And the way Blizzard is forcing people to connect to battle.net2 just further proves that they're more interested in their bottom line than they are in delivering a good product.
