Diablo 3 is going to fail.

The Witch Doctor class, is way more exciting than the old Necro in my opinion... or do every one just want to have an army of skeletons running behind them?

I'd want to see Escapist's source for the 2013 release date, a quick search comes up with the following:

From Blizzard
When will Diablo III be released?
It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players. We're aiming to release Diablo III on both Mac and Windows simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages. We'll have more details to share about countries, languages, and specific dates as we get closer to release.

From MTV Multiplayer
At BlizzCon 2009 it was revealed that Blizzard's two releases next year will be "World of WarCraft: Cataclysm" and "StarCraft 2." "Diablo 3" will likely see a 2011 release, which basically takes it out of the running for games I can genuinely be excited about.

From www.diablowiki.net
As usual, the release date for any Blizzard production is kept under wraps for as long as possible. What is known is that Diablo III is behind StarCraft II in the development cycle. A StarCraft release for 2010 and a Diablo III release in 2010/2011 seems probable, and the BlizzCon 2008/BlizzCon 2009 information also seems to indicate this.

Still, the level of polish makes it harder to estimate development time left. Any other dates or rumours are that -- rumours.

I have to disagree with the OP. The game is looking gorgeous as it is and the release date is looking to be 2011. They have different classes because this is not a remake of Diablo 2 but a remake. If there is one concern it is that Blizzard will not have evolved the gameplay enough to hold the attention of modern gamers.

diablo 3 will definitely NOT fail ... it will be one of the best games ever TBH. i think 2011 is a fair ETA, even though we've learnt the hard way to not be optimistic when it comes to blizzard and release dates. i'm quite sure 2013 was a joke...

lol, stop flaming each other. Everyone has different opinions. I haven't seen any worthy comments on this thread other than the sales numbers talk for themselves. You can't flame something without justification.

EH!!!! Completely, totally, utterly Wrong!

If it wasn't for WC3 the best games ever wouldn't have been made. DotA & HoN.
Blizzard made DotA? Go on, pull the other one.

Sure, blizzard made a good map editor that was highly customisable, but that doesn't make the core game any less sucky. They spent more on a few cutscenes than they did on the rest of the game, and for what?

The core game was not fun.

sorry guys, but Blizzard can NEVER fail at a game. even if D3 sucks totally (which it won't) it will still make millions.
Yeah, and every time EA belts another copy of its repeatedly franchised crap out, it also makes millions. The litmus test of a good game is not how well it sells.

The Blizzard that made Diablo 2 and Starcraft is no more. Those core design members have moved on to other jobs and other places. And after reading what they plan to do with Starcraft 2, I'm already despairing. I don't think Diablo 3 is going to do Diablo 2 justice either. And the way Blizzard is forcing people to connect to battle.net2 just further proves that they're more interested in their bottom line than they are in delivering a good product.

says you... i still play multiplayer on battle.net, the game is alot of fun. DotA i play now and then but prefer 1v1 or 2v2 ladder play. your statement about the game not being fun is your opinion, the amount of players still playing this game online is evidence enough that people still enjoy war3. think of other RTS games released about the time war3 came out... .... how many people still play that?

lol, with the insane amount of money they already make on WoW i can guarantee you that diablo is not their number 1 cashcow ... they want to release a quality product that'll be enjoyable for everyone, they can scrap diablo 3 and starcraft 2 today if they wanted to and still run up huge profits for the financial year end.

having said that, i still despise their hype tactic :erm: ... i don't beleive it increases their sales and all it does in the end is frustrate gamers waiting for their new titles to be released.

for now i'm putting starcraft 2 and diablo 3 in the part of my brain where i store all things that will come eventually -.-
