msmoorad, you're dead on. The difference is that dial-up in unshaped, therefore there are no restrictions. When I had dial-up, I used to download more than 10 gigs a month, using the R7 call more time.

dial up

is there any way to get our beloved telkom to offer unlimited dialup for a flat rate of around R250.00 a month?
with the infiniti call (where you can make use of the entire 12 hours of callmore time for R7something plus vat)you get charged if your line disconnects for any reason and you redial your ISP.
they should do away with that- as long as you are dialling your ISP - it should not matter.

i would happily forget about our so call ADSL- until the real thing is available.

Quite clever on the beasts part.

The most worrying part of this is the fact that ISP's are now being locked into a revenue stream that is in effect under threat and should not be there in the first place.

Local calls should be free. You can just picture the whinning from the big ISP's like MWEB/Datapro etc when ICASA decides to tackle the local call issue!

TELKOM will also argue, when the time comes, that by implementing legislation that requires free local calls ICASA will be doing more harm to the ISP market.

Has the ISPA lost its voice on this, what does Ant Brooks have to say about it?

It also helps keep the ISP's on Telkom's side if Neotel offer free local calls, or if LLU goes through and they get competition on that front...

VIVA Telkom (only joking)

hi guys!

I lodged a complaint with the ASASA (avertising standards authority of SA) about telkoms "Do Broadband" advertising campaign.

i said it was misleading sinc ethey say we can do movies and online gaming etc.
with the bloody 1 Gig they give us a month how much online gaming can you do?
and where did u ever see a DVD quality movie thats 1Gig? (unless we download it on a P2P network which is hard to access due to shaping).

guys, please email me at: msmoorad@webmail.co.za if you have anything i can add to how telkoms "do broadband" advertising campaign is misleading and incorrect.

i know u love them sooooo much!
