I have been asked for more details by eblshnnb so ill post here incase anyone else needs it:
1: My work PC is running Win XP PRO
2: My laptop that im dialling in from is running Windows Vista Business
a: On your internet (ADSL) enabled PC ( in this case it should be your personal PC at YOUR business or else it will be fraud - theft of bandwith ), go to Network Connections ( Start, My network places, View Network Connections )
b: Click on Create a new connection
c: Select next and then select 4th option which is : SETUP an Advanced Connection
d: Select first option which is : ACCEPT incoming connections
e: Choose your Internal, USB or SERIAL 56k analogue Modem which you should obviously have installed on your PC
f: NEXT and then the 2nd option which is: Do NOT allow Virtual private connections and then NEXT
g: Now under USERS allowed to Connect select : ADD and enter a user name, full name ( i used same name on both ) and a password that you want to use
h: Next and then tick all three options and go into properties of TCPIP and thats where the waters get murky...
i: Tick ALLOW callers to access my LAN and tick specify TCP IP and in the from and to fields, insert the range ( this is the murky area - basically depends how your PC is configured - lets say your work PC is connected directly to a ADSL Router and your router IP address is 10.0.0.1 and there is only one PC connected to this router, in this case specify an IP range further up - for example 10.0.0.5 to 10.0.0.6 )
j: Also tick: Allow calling computer to specify its own IP address then tick OK, next and finish.
k: You are now done on the host PC - Now go to the Guest or home PC in this case and go to Network Connections ( Start, My network places, View Network Connections ) and then Click on Create a new connection
l: Choose the 2nd option: Connect to the Network at my Workplace then next
m: Choose 1st option being : Dial Up Connection next and choose any company name
n: Enter the dial up number of your PC ( the PC at work )-next and if you want a shortcut on desktop, select that option as well.
You are now done
o: Now double click the connection you just created and click properties and check that the CONNECT USING section has your proper 56k dial up modem selected
p: Press Ok after checking the Modem and then enter the username and password that you had selected under step "g"
q: Click dial and you should be connected....
Now heres the bad news, the connection works but is not as fast as you would want it to be....however as long as its free its good!
Im waiting to get Radmin ( not sure of the name )- this will allow you to take control of the work PC and all the processing of the pages etc will happen on the work PC internet browser and ADSL speeds and then on the home PC, you receive screenshots of whats on the Work PC - supposed to be faster - thats what im told....ill update u guys once i have tried it...
