I just received an email from Absa Credit Card <[email protected]>
Made sure to check the domain and can confirm that is legit their domain and email address... Below is the extracts from the email

I did not apply for a credit card... So I called them and apparently their clients are all receiving this and they smearing it as a System error...

Congratulations! Your Absa credit card has been approved. Our courier partner CCD will be calling you to arrange delivery of your credit card. Once your card has been delivered, you can activate your Pin by dialling 0861 462 273 (option 5) or visiting your nearest Absa branch.

Kind Regards,
The Card Team

Not sure why you'd think this was a hack? It's not like the message is requesting personal info or anything. Does just look like a mass system error.

Eish... Never know these days... ****en hell. Nearly Shat myself thinking a Credit card in my name is on its way to Nania to be spent by the trolls under bridge... WTF ABSA!

Yay testing in production ftw

Fsck that.. best place to write awesome code is directly on the prod environment.
It's easy to get in the zone when you sync up your typing with the frantic knocking and shouting at the office door

I got one of those emails about a month ago on a Sunday morning.
I reported it straight away and Absa promised to get back to on Monday.
Absa didn't call me on Monday and later that week I called up Absa again to ask about it.
About a week later, I got an email from Absa saying that the original email was a mistake and related to my credit card which was delivered months before.
