Contract is up for renewal, so I impulsively ordered a Razr Maxx. I'm aware of the HD, but who knows how long it'll be before it hits our shores, and I wanted a new toy to play with ASAP.

One of the main factors for me was battery life, but with the likes of the S3 around, did I just make a big mistake by getting one of these? Problem is everyone seems to have one these days, and I figured that even though it doesn't have Jellybean yet, I can live with ICS for a while. But in terms of the overall experience, am I missing out? Any known issues with the phone?

Did it eventually get ics? As when I was looking in Aug it was still gb? Why not look at a Xperia T or S

I would've gotten myself the S3.

There's a good reason why the Galaxy S3 has sold more than 30 million units....you just can't compare the moto with it.

*The support and accessories for the S3 in South Africa is also much better.

Was a giant mistake, gigantic
Was a giant mistake, gigantic
What the hell were you thinking?
Were you thinking at all?
What the hell did you believe you'd achieve?
You stood there with your contract exposed
As the others said, "I told you so"
What the hell?
What the hell?

Battery life. Charging is the bane of my existence, always getting stuck with a low battery when I need it most :o

I don’t think you did. Look the Sams are excellent and every second AH have one. The Moto is stylish, tuff and more compact. The S3 is nice but is too big to fit in your pocket and too small for a tab. From who are you getting it and for how much?

Razr Maxx is better!

Kevlar construction, military grade security.....compared with that flimsy thing from Korea? Your impulse was a good impulse.

The Korean may be better specced but that is where it ends.

Battery life on the S3 is amazing if you don't try and overuse its features.

Getting it from Autopage, just over 1k on my contract.

Depends,

If absolutely clear call quality, reception, battery life, build quality and style is what you want most on a phone then no you did not make a mistake at all.

But if you wanted a phone with an amazing screen (one X), excellent gaming experience (one X or S3), good camera (Sony, Nokia) or following the trend (S3 or Apple) then yes there are much better alternatives out there.
