Did mtn remove the "not enough money sms"?

Normally when I send an sms without sufficient airtime, mtn sends me an sms saying "Your 1-part sms could not be sent because your balance of xx was insufficient."

Now over the weekend this did not happen. Was it just a fluke or has mtn stopped offering this service.

I went through the whole weekend thinking the sms had been sent.

I doubt they would just remove something like that, but i have found a more effective way of checking whther or not an sms went through, its called a read report

I'm struggling to think why this should be necessary, why doesn't the gateway just not accept the SMS, then your phone will let you know it wasn't sent?

Same here i noticed this 2 weeks ago when my boss told me he never receieved my Sms for not coming to work I was like wTF

You're allowed to sms your boss to say you're not coming to work? eisch if i did that to mine it would be a first letter of warning at least, have to call the guy!
