Did the competion react?

No, Vodacom disconnected 1 million subscribers last year because they weren't spending enough. Why would they want them back???

So did Vodacom and MTN react to the free mins on weekends promotion of CellC?

Yeh... they're rofl because the CellC network has fallen over every weekend since.

The promotion works like this... a quarter of the users get to make free calls, the rest of the network can't receive or make any calls... including those on Virgin (me).

VC and MTN are still rolling about laughing at the groot gaaitjie in CC's foot where it shot itself.

With so few towers and only a 2G network based on time slots, it does not make much sense to increase the load if you want to keep customers from defecting to a less congested network, luckily it is only on weekends.

Yup... Virgin has one more chance with me, and this weeked is it... if I get one network busy... cheers.

I'm sure they used it as a case-study on how to sink a network. Maybe VC can get someone in undercover at MTN to launch a similar thing at MTN...
