Hi everyone

New here, figured its time to join an I.T forum. Recently i was really baffled with the new systems that came out, I lossed touch with technology. I know it is time to upgrade seeing that the new low ghz speeds are faster. I have a 3.0 ghz ht. But would like to upgrade. Whats the differences between duo and quad and what clock ranges do they come in?

Your 3.0 processor has one core, and can process one thread at a time (forget about the two cores that you see in task manager.). Dual core has two cores, and can process two threads at time, quad has four.

Duos are cheaper than Quads for an equivalent clock speed. A Dual Core can perform better in some instances when compared to a similarly priced Quad i.e. the application may not be multi-threaded, and clock speed is more important than multiple cores. Clock speeds from 2.33 - 3.33.

hi mayo welcome to mybb forums, i suggest you tell us how much you are willing to spend on upgrades then we can make suggestions and explanations from there ;)

Even a 2.2dual core would outperform your 3Ghz.

For gaming tri cores give the best bang for buck.
