Have been looking at different countries that are using the same MY WIRELESS sytem that we have here. Quite interesting the different pricing for the same product.

www.woosh.com (New Zealand) 256Kb connection R282.99 per month. No limit on useage for home user, within reason.
500Kb connection R1565.00 per month. 5Gb limit on useage, for business only.
Nice country, thinks of the man in the street first. Oh yes!!! Modem only R867.00. Same picture of the modem we get here. Perhaps they have got the modem that doesn't have all the parts in it.

www.cats-net.com (Tanzania). All prices quoted in dollars on there web site. Price per month, R730.00pm for 128Kb connection with same conditions as here ie. modem included etc. But who do you think is the partner in this little venture in Tanzania. Good old Sentech. Keeping there pricing consistent, aren't they?

As has been mentioned numerous times, Sentech still buys bandwidth from Telkom. That is where the cost comes in.

Actually if you read deeper, suprisingly, for the given 3G technology we have quite a good deal compared to NZ. I dont know about Europe though.

Woosh says that their cap is about 700MB a month with a maximum of 7GB or something like that. Thats about 4 days traffic (at full rate) on 128k nevermind 256 or 512 so dont think because they arent profiting on their modems that its a good service. My guess is that the wireless there is for the outskirts and is their comparitive Telkom ADSL since they have real broadband and xMbps in places.

As long as Sentech puts the profit they are making on the modems (I bet its a lot) to good use then I am more than happy. This should translate into 90% coverage in the major cities in every province INNCLUDING the associated international bandwidth. Hopefully our modems arent funding Telkom-like leeches high up in Sentech.

If you care to read through the forum you'll find exactly why they are selling there modems at AU$199 - they dont have a choice at this time and they are personally subsidising the client to the tune of AU$300.

You go and buy a modem from Woosh and see what you pay for it.

Sentech does not buy bandwidth from Telkom, it has more international bandwith available than Telkom.

They might pier with local networks, but this will be done on an equal level aka. JINX & CINX.
