Different speeds, xp vs vista

Hey guys

Thought i would give you an update.

2 Neotel guys eventually came through yesterday and proceded to try installing drivers for the device again. It was really funny, i had to tell them the drivers were not going to work and explain to them if they stick in a disc and then tell xp to reinstall it was just going to install the drivers it had on previously. As xp recognised those drivers as the correct ones. Also the drivers the brought were for a qualcomm device and not dupont so the pc wouldn't even allow them to be installed.

Eventually they came to the conclusion that the drivers on xp were not as good as those on vista and said they would forward the info to the developers or something. Well obvioualy this was not going to help me personaly any time soon so i decided to continue troubleshooting on my own and proceeded to try and boost my signal as even though the device reports 4 bars sometimes it drops to 2 and then quickly shoots back up to 4 again after a call; so i figured it may be missreporting. I proceeded to dury rig my tv antenna and once plugged in to my device the speeds did increase by about 200-300 kbps (this may help someone with signal issues).

Unfortunately the fact remains that no matter what i do on each machine the xp machine always runs slower than the vista machine.

lol, i have no idea. its just a standard tv antenna thats been on the roof for years. You know the normal sabc tv antenna.

Have your pings gotten better or worse since installing the antennae?

That is now, on Friday was getting response of 1800ms + .
They are working on the problem

Wow. I just pinged that site from my adsl line at work and my pings are in the region of between 16 and 299.

Shouldn't your pings be lower since you're on their network?

Those pings tell me that Neotel can't be used for gaming.

I thought the same as you!!! Guess not as the Neotel does hosting with IS...

Bare in mind this is the LIte package, the Prime package is in average around 100 ms - 200 ms..

Those ping replies are not bad at all :D well not good enough for gaming but youtube/webcam should be nice.

Those pings are terrible. Local pings should be sub 100. I've done extensive testing on http://www.speedtest.net/ on my home connection (Neotel) averaging 300ms local and on my work connection (Telkom) averaging 40-50ms.

do u thin installing IPv6 drivers on windows would improve neotels prime package?
