CambodiaDave: What is going on with DigiChilli, ever since the launch I have been experiencing atrocious speeds, browsing is shocking, torrents are non existant and even http downloads are terrible. So far I havent even had the minimum of 256kb which is supposed to be guaranteed. MSN doesnt work, ur shaping ur uncapped products and throttling them, that does not sound like uncapped to me.

+1 Although, got minimum speed on one download in 8-9 days of having the account :erm: Not good at all... The prioritisation of business stuff is explained though. But don't thinking shaping/throttling is an issue as even at 5am I'm getting the same terrible speeds, even with http...

Another update on the packet loss - it doesn't appear to be the UK -> US link.

This is the result of pinging news.bbc.co.uk:
Code:
Ping statistics for 212.58.226.138:
    Packets: Sent = 1626, Received = 1469, Lost = 157 (9% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 272ms, Maximum = 831ms, Average = 300ms

At the same time I pinged 196.25.1.1 (igubu.saix.net - a dns server) and got 0% packet loss.

Edit: I got a call from Digichilli to say the packet loss will likely be resolved by tonight, so I'll test again tomorrow.

I hate this, I have been so supportive of DigiChilli and I want them to do well, and to offer more good uncapped products, but if they cannot even get their first few products right, then they will be doomed with their later offerings. Its already the middle of December, and its not looking good for them. I cannot do any of the things I was promised i'd be able to do.

Guinea pig phase 5 had ended
phase 6 starts ...

Pretty much - the phases are making improvements to the product though :p I can now actually browse comfortably on most sites and downloads are mostly above 10kb/s. Although, one would have hoped it would have worked from the start.

Dear Necromancer,

You are running a free test account and are downloading 2Gb per day at present.

Which part of our service does not suffice for you?

1) We do not throttle our products at all. This is categorical.
2) We did not shape either. Well, we will be changing this on Friday, as the slow HTTP responses you are seeing are due to over utilization of certain persons. We apply the pareto principle, that 80% of our users will only use 20% of the bandwidth, but conversely, 20% of the peeps will use 80% of the bandwidth.
3) Shaping is essential to offering a high quality overall experience. We will prioritize our traffic, but we will never throttle anything.
4) We move 20Tb a month. It does not appear that everyone has problems.

So, we agree, we have our problems. We are working on them. We are getting better, every day.

At DigiChilli, we are more open and transparent than any other ISP in the country, sometimes this is too our detriment. (Too much information)

We will never change our communication methods, we offer a high quality, personalized service. There are those of you that have provided us with invaluable information over the past weeks, which we have taken to consideration and are using to improve the service. This is your product, built for you.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all perfect, but this will never be the case. But given a bit of time, we will be better than anything you have seen.

We hold no guns to anyone's head. Please feel free to stop testing if you are Frustrated.

This is not our intention.

It is our intention to build the highest quality product possible.
I have no doubt that in 2 weeks time, all of this negativity will be relegated to history.

Great to hear.

20Tb, impressive stuff.

Try as I might, its getting increasingly difficult to be patient. I get home from work everyday and check my connection, hoping that each day is better than the past. Sadly, I am dissapointed everyday. I'm trying hard to keep the faith....

Even local is slow today :(

20Tb a month?!??!

Makhulu, that is a very impressive number.

I am also on a test account, and whilst yes some of the protocols I use are not that great... the general web-browsing aspect of it is working just fine for me now so I will def be signing up in January.. I just have to decide which account specifically.

Very quick response, that is what I like about DigiChilli. Dont get me wrong, Its not that I dont want to test the account anymore, but the slowness has to be cured. I would obviously prefer to stick with DigiChilli, but if my speeds dont start to improve, then I will be forced to switch ISP's. Running a 4mb line downloading at 0.1kbs up to 10kbs is not what I signed up for. Downloading at 32kbs up to 4mbs or even 1mbs is wat I signed up for.

A routing issue has been resolved.

Anybody still unable to get to the DC site?

Should help with some latency issues.

Auth probs: are they better? 691 and 'remote no response'.

14:00 December 15 2009 Multiple connections

Too many connections problem - Ghost sessions. Clean up in progress.

Woohoo.......
Thanks Dave. It works :)

Your average speed over this month has been around 23K/s downloading 24/7. This is when you average out the fast stuff with the slow stuff.

@2 gigs a day.

So not to bad.

Hmmm... Ok well, I have to say that all of a sudden my connection seems a hellofalot faster. Torrents have actually jumped up to 280kbs. I think that making a bit of noise helped my connection :)

In that case, Dave why is my 384kbbps line not doing 4meg speeds? I want it now!!!!!!!

 :)

HTTP browsing is looking good at the moment.
The TCP disconnects also seem to be something of the past.

Downloads are slower than expected although if I go multi threaded it improves.
Any idea why a single threaded download will not max out a connection seeing as how this is only 256kbps we are theoretically talking about?
