what you saying it right and true to an extent....when you start a business...you don't start it as a freebie....give some freebies and "introductory offers" to attract the paying clientele...use the money, complaints, suggestions and lessons learnt as you go along to grow, improvise and concrete your business and once things are running smoothly..you then streamline your product and establish your niche making sure that your offering is a cut above the competition...

show me a business that boomed from day one without any hitches and glitches? the consumer market is tougher that a crowd whom you doing standup comedy for... and it takes ONE person to sink your bizniz....

hear ends business stratey 101.... ;)

Lol, I agree with you 100%, but when it comes to ISP's bringing out new packages, those packages have to be tested thoroughly before they are launched publicly, and those that are testing it should not be required to pay for it. We are doing THEM a favour by testing out their product. Im not saying that any company should give freebies away, oh no, Im simply saying that when a person is trialling an account, he is already putting himself in the position that he knows his connection is not going to be stable, why should he also have to pay for it?

Thats what im feeling with DigiChilli right now. People are buying accounts, paying for it, and are basically experiencing everything a trial user would experience.

Do you use Axxess by any chance straatkat?

No, I used too. They were my first ADSL ISP. I had my line through them and was very happy. Then I moved to Afrihost to take advantage of some cost saving for the international. (The sort of things you do when you buy a house.)

Then it got a little crazy, moved to Screamer at launch, Digichilli on trial, then paid Digichilli before going to SAOL on the 11th. Been very happy since. Had one of the cheapest months download wise as well as one of the biggest ever.

I still keep tabs on all three ISP's (SAOL, Screamer and Digichilli). I wish for all three to succeed. Looks like Screamer got a handle on things, took them a month. Only remaining issue seems the Dynamic IP's. They also improved communication.

Digichilli on the otherhand has been a dog show. From lots of bullish talks and a very promising trial of which I was part to this rather unexceptional mess. I cannot but feel that they have harmed ADSL in the short term and undermined every thing that they have set out to do.

Afrihost have done so well to prove people wrong with aggressive priced capped ADSL. They are truly a breath of fresh air and by all means seems sustainable.

SAOL have been flying very under the radar, but their service has been very very good as far a stability and usage is concerned.

It has to be said that these uncapped offerings is the very first positive development in local ADSL since caps was introduced. There are however still lots that need to be done, including the double line rental, speed of lines and general availability of truly comparible international services.

Digichilli might have first to talk the talk, but walking have seemed slow, compounded by some rather regretful actions.

I still hope and pray that they succeed, in the interest of all ADSL users.

Some of us don't have R500 to splash out every month for internet, that is why we gone for the R300 option, i really hope, and know DC will come trough for us :)

Fair enough but I was referring to the poster being happy paying R600 for the same service. Also keep in mind that the R500 options I mentioned includes adsl line rental so it's not really that much more than you are currently paying.
