How can they launch when the network is still completely unusable?
Their trial was simply too small. Everything looked good in the trial. They went live, stacks of people signed up, the network couldn't cope.

I echo that. If they had done a trial along the lines of what WebAfrica did, then maybe all this could have been avoided.

they have had a few kinks in the road get over it can you do better

Last Result:
Download Speed: 126 kbps (15.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 46 kbps (5.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 535 ms

As mentioned by others, the download speeds can be increased many times over, by using a download manager.

The above speed seems to be the DC average for a single link download.

That speed needs to get to 25-35 to be the correct speed for the single concurrent connection "Spicy" 256k burstable product.

Whatever is holding the average speed at 10-12k, needs to be fixed and the service will be perfect.

Anyone that used PCPitstop's product, BEWARE!

It does not uninstall and dials home with all your info. I let it have the permissions on installation, since there is nothing on my newly formatted setup, but it may be unacceptable to anyone with banking or private info on their pc. I now had to kill it with my security app. and need to manually delete the files.

BEWARE OF PC PITSTOP.

do any of you guys that are moaning ever read what Dave posts and understand what he writes yes i have had crappy days far as i can see they have gone through abit of techy hell and yet they still try to provide a service

I'm not moaning. I'm reporting what I experience, over time. I was on a free test account and I'm now on a free account for Dec.

I read everything about DC and I am pointing out that the average speed is somehow always at around 10-12k. That seems to be what those on 384k lines, with the R300 package, are experiencing.

Thus, whatever is holding the average speed at 10-12k, needs to be fixed and the service will be perfect.

+1

I'm sure the downloads are limited due to the people that channelled their downloads as http via port 80. I think once that is sorted the throttle or whatever is being applied will be removed and the single thread downloads will be up to standard. Or I hope so!
:D

I agree with the ~12KBps links.... youtube, http downloads (small patches) and so on.... they all get it. But only international, obviously.

Some of my international sites still bomb out and I need to do a few refreshes for it to finally load.

Intl torrents..... well yeah..... not getting anything on those.
Same with intl FTP.... I have to use another ISP when I want to work on a client's site.

Im having issues even getting a test done to outside of SA. Java keeps conking out.
Jhb server gives me 45% QoS, 238kbps download (on a 384 line) and 109kbps upload with max 557ms delays on TCP.
