And regards to the throttling, they advertise: " Minimum guaranteed speed 256k" . Meaning the min speed would be 25.6k, but they don't mention anything about the maximum speed. Meaning my 4MB line can go up too 420k. If the idea was to limit the speed to a maximum of 256k then they should have done that.

I agree with the part in bold. But not all is lost, i'm sure if you contact Dave and promise you will limit yourself to less than 5 gigs a day he will let you back on.

//edit I see Dave did contact you 3 times by email, so you were warned.

I fully understand DC's situation, but the fact remains that the "temporary solution" isn't really all that legit.

I've done 5GB's a day some days, but I'm doing maybe 40% upload 60% download.....

If Dave were to tempban my account, I wouldn't have an issue in the slightest if getting rid of my usage would allow them to get the network to work properly for everyone (including me)

Why does it matter who I am? THE CAPS IS FOR SHOUTING!!! You have a problem, a very big problem and now that you are banned you bring it here. I wont even ask DC for a refund because of the network issues from the start of the month because I want this company to be successful but here you come with your crap. Just take a chill pill and try for once to be nice to Dave because they have been working their asses off for us to have very affordable uncapped internet.

As I understand things, these bans are just temporary. To allow a start up company to sort out their routing and other issues without having 3% of users make the network unstable so that they can actually optimise the network.

No, i did not get any emails. He probably talking about someone else. I wasnt doing near 100gb

The biggies are the steam client ports (first section) and I suppose (shooting myself in the foot) the "* TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads)" could be treated the same as a torrent.
the rest should be low bandwidth stuff..


The ports:
Steam Client
* UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive (Game client traffic)
* UDP 27015 to 27030 inclusive (Typically Matchmaking and HLTV)
* TCP 27014 to 27050 inclusive (Steam downloads)
* UDP 4380


Dedicated or Listen Servers
* TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

Steam isn't working for me either. Logging in works, and has been for the past few days. Its just downloads and updates that don't work at all. Is there any information about this?

Because people were banned when they supposedly abused the network.
 
Well, I haven't been able to connect to the account since Friday when the network went down. Call centre goes to a recording telling me to mail them which I did and still nothing... So 2 days of no account :(

I was downloading the TF2 update at about 15-30KB just before everything went dead for me about 30 mins ago. However, I wasn't able to download an update for steam itself with DC. Had to use another account for that or else steam would just crash.
 
My Internet has sped up dramatically, My browsing has just minor issues... (some pages I need to refresh to load and sometimes a bit slow)

But overall speed is almost on par with my telkom account. :)

Hmmm...since a little while ago my speeds have dropped dramatically. 2kB on multi-threaded HTTP at the moment but this also happened last "network bounce" so I'll hold out for an hour or two before I start going apocalyptic.
