i've cooled down fro DC..
i need a working connection for my studies next year i waited all of december but no luck..its Afrihost for me now until DC sort themselves out...will be glad to come back once they do.

Same here...

Ok I'm not reading this entire thread but I just need to confirm that I'm not the only idiot being kept in suspenders.

For a whole day and a bit now I can get absolutely no data on either of the two digi accounts I have access to. One is my own paid for account and the other is a friends free account for December. The odd thing is my friend can connect on both and surf and download (within the current limitations) fine. I can authenticate and connect but cant even browse the digichilli site.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone else get this?

i cant connect since yesterday. do not realy kow what the issues are, but sure they working on it

How do you know they are working on it? Have you been in touch with someone from DigiChilli?

Dave,

At the risk of sounding clueless: is it not possible to shape the network traffic differently for local vs international? I see that my Steam is connected to 1 local and 2 international servers but the local server is also rate limited to 7.5kB/s.

In an earlier post Makhulu Chilli said that the local link is not running anywhere near capacity

For your information we have the following available:

1) 100mbps (upgradable to 2X 1Gbps) to Seacom.
2) 155mbps (upgradable to 4X 155mbps) to Saix.
3) 20mbps (upgradable to X 155mbps) local internet access.
3) 100mbps (upgradable to 20 X 100mbps) international to ISP in London.
4) 100mbps international internet access,

a) 98% of all our traffic is international, hence the international v.s. local split.

So can we open up the sluice gates on the local link a tad?

I don't know what you guys at Digichilli did, but I have noticed a sizable increase in browsing speed and http downloads.

Something has improved, BUT!....

I still cannot reliably play EVE online, if that port is being heavily shaped or something please reconsider it,but over all things have definitely improved on my side.

I signed up earlier this month and I too cannot auth for 2 days now. I paid in full for this account. Take this as a threat, these guys don't want to mess with me, I'm one who journalist who can make life very uncomfortable for them. Got the nod to do an article on them early in January, I'll make it very interesting.

I contacted their call centre earlier and was promised that they will sort it out - I'll give them till 12:00 today.

Guzilam

I have just pressed the "cool-me-down" button, and I very much
doubt if I'll ever press the "heat-me-up" one .... here's why :

My entire stats for the 13 hours from 18:00 last night
to 07:00 this morning are -

Download 298 MB Upload 504 MB

Now I had exactly 6 torrents running - and I've been trying
to get them for 10 days now - yes TEN days. As you can imagine,
I'm starting to run out of seeders and leachers. But there are
still a few and I've managed in the past with less. So, given
the above total upload and download stats, here's what actually
transpired on the six torrent files - the headings are Original size,
Position 1 (18:00 last night), Position 2 (07:00 this morning),
Actual growth.

All figures are in MegaBytes.

Original P1 P2 Actual
-------- ---- ----- ------
337.3 252.9 260.1 7.2
259.7 240.5 243.3 2.8
711.5 702.4 704.9 2.5
706.4 466.5 469.0 2.5
100.5 60.2 62.7 2.5
138.7 134.6 138.7 4.1 and complete, finally .....

So - I managed to actually grow the 6 torrent files by about
12 MegaBytes - in 13 hours. The rest of the 298 MB must have just
been wasted packets.

I was starting to feel sorry for myself, but then I cheered up when
I realised I only lost R240 - think about the investors who've lost
R20 to R40 million. Ouch !

I really do wish DC the best, but right now, with the South African
cricket team teetering at 76 for 6, I'd give them a better chance of winning
their match than DC getting this right. Fact is that they've just gone
backwards over the last 2 weeks - both DC and the Proteas.

From the DC site: “This is a managed service, with business protocols taking priority. Network conditions will determine the speed of P2P* and torrents.”

So can we really complain about the gaming, torrents, p2p ..

All the protocols i need for work are just about working 100% just FTP up and down and HTTP downloads, Skype voice chat i do not know for i did not test it.
