Hi,
If there is anyone in the Strand with LOS to relatively close to the Pavilion area... I'm -seriously- starting to consider replacing my ADSL with Diginet. Diginet prices has dropped significantly, and whilst it does mean less bandwidth, the bandwidth you get are at a premium.
If anyone is interested, I'm looking to split the cost of the service proportionally to the amount of bandwidth. I'm looking to put in a 128k or 192k line and split the service (and cost) on a 40/60, 50/50 type of scenario (I'll even provide you with copies of quotes / invoices to PROOVE to you that I am not snarfing you and making money out of you. Naturally, I'll provide the bandwidth to you via a wireless link (You're responsible for your own equipment), you will be required to pay for your share of the bandwidth, and I will provide you with a block of public routed IPs (not NATed ****), more than likely a /28 block.
I'm still waiting for updated prices, but guestimates are you are looking at about 2K to 3K per 64K of bandwidth (SAIX with international Fiber).
This isn't a advertisement, this isn't a business selling a service, this is me as a individual being so 'gatvol' of ADSL that I am now actually prepared to make the plunge and get a alternative that I know works. If CTWUG is reachable in the Strand, I'll even be prepared to link to the WUG and create a tunnel thru there for someone further away from the Strand wanting to share
PS - If there's a corporate willing to share, we can talk and come up with a very neat deal, as I'll naturally only use it during the nights and over weekends mostly when I am home. During the day, I need to be at work to pay for this!
Feel free to reply, pm, or email...
