Does anyone know how this site works (or does not work for that matter)?

I've ordered basic cellular accessories from them twice (screen protector and styluses).

On both occasions the order where accepted and my credit card debited within seconds.
On both occasion I got an email a few days later saying they had no stock and that I would have to wait a few weeks or could cancel my order immediately and would be refunded.
On both occasions I cancelled my order (online shopping all about instant gratification isn’t it)?
On both occasions my emails about refunds promised have disappeared into what seems to be a black hole.

It seems to be a great business model:
-Offer products online and have people buy them.
-Hold the clients cash while you try to source the prodcuts (earning interest in your bank account).
-Make the refund procedure so difficult that a vast majority of customers simply give up and you get to keep the cash.

i only order from digitalplanet, and besides slight delivery problems, i get what i want!.

+1 for dp haters club here as well. Phone before long weekend and ordered C&C 3.. I am now playing with a friends copy that ordered from Take2 after the long weekend with no-cd patch, still waiting for mine..

And Digital Planet told me they had stock.. I don't have to pre-order..

Yeah right....

I don't think they maintain their catalog very well. There are stacks of old items on it I doubt they could even get. I phone or email them first before I buy to check they do have stock, but I find they are very slow generally.

But I must say I would rather use anyone other than Digital Planet. I have emailed [email protected] countless times and never been happy with the response even from there.

When I look at their website, I shudder. One of the worst layouts of an online shop that I've seen in my life. Front page: 50 products with pictures and summaries; 20 ads; 20 logos. That adds up to absolute crap. Would hate to know what their customer service is like...

Another DP hater here. Worst experience ever. I tried sybaritic, no frills no fuss. Dp's site looks like someone just stuck about 100 jpegs all over the place.

I have bought a few things from DP, and had lot of orders cancelled because suppliers were out of stock. Its another story trying to get a refund from them. Taken me over a month and I still don't have my money. Be careful

I would recommend not buying from them.

I find it very interesting that this is an Indian-owned company, and that only people from Durban vouch for them.

..and just to make it perfectly clear, I have absolutely nothing against Indian people, in fact I have nothing but respect for them.

Man, suppliers suck ass. I was trying to get a customer a AGP 7600GS (256MB), first suppliers said they had stock and I quoted the customer on thier price. Next day I phoned them after he had accepted that quote, but allas "No sir, we dont have that item in stock, havent had them for a while"

So I phoned a other supplier who had cheapish 512MB models and I asked them, they said they had stock. I drive there after the client had agreed to pay the R200 difference in price (or I would have refunded him). And guess what? They didnt actually have it in stock...

Finally a third supplier actually had stock...

DP do not hold stock... but their prices are good... so... phone them before you make an order... I bought a 22in for R3300 from them but only after speaking to one of their sales guys because 2 of the other screens I wanted were out of stock.

very odd. I order from the quite alot and have never had the problems you guys go on about. The only hassel i had, was the courier company keeps delivering it to my work after i've told them not too - which has now been sorted out!.

Once they could not get a part fast enough, so they shipped what they had, and sent the other part free of charge to me!.

I really can't complain about DP!

Hi there,

I'm also pretty bummed with their service ... here's what I mailed them:

Hi there,

I have been waiting for quite a while for these products to be delivered as promised.

I already came to collect part of the order because it was taking to long. You didn't deliver part of the order for free as your automatic responder said you would.

Now you don't have stock of the CD wallet ... Marketing 101:How about offering another product instead?

I am quite disappointed with the service .. your updates work fine but
automatic responders can only do so much

Please deliver what you have, you can deliver the rest when you receive it.

It would have been quicker for me to ride a bicycle to your suppliers (probably in Malawi) and collect the stock myself!
