Can you direct me to a company that does digium/Asterisk training who are certified?

I knew that clarotech used to do it however they were bought out by Logicalis, trying to get a hold of someone from logicalis is a bit of a nightmare.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No SA entity would really recognise a DCAP so its kinda pointless. In the linux world its all about what you can prove you can build. Rather start with a linux sysadmin course of sorts and study asterisk after the fact. There is nothing the internet cant tell you about Asterisk.
We are for example a leader in Asterisk based solutions, but we wont hire you only because of your dcap, you need linux first. And asterisk is not the only telephony engine out there, you should look at freeswitch as well, as it is overtaking asterisk in many ways.

We have some DCAPs here who have passed the exam. Apart from the theory, you just need to teach yourself to write asterisk dialplan. By that I mean, do a vanilla asterisk 20 install from source and code your own PBX in text. If you can do that all by yourself then you have kinda passed the dcap. When you get stuck, just ask the internet, or see the asterisk docs. They are very good.

I wouldn’t say that. I was the second person in SA to get it. Catapulted my career, that said I left the voip game years ago. I had solid Linux before that though. Also was a huge fan of freeswitch and opensip for actual multi tenancy solutions.

For @KIRESH26 I did my certificates at Astricon. It may still be a thing.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I didn't have the pleasure of getting tertiary education however I have been self studying, learning off google , YouTube and other forums to try and get my foot in the door.

I just need that piece of paper to say that I am capable of doing it.

I need to catapult my career because I feel like I've been stagnant for the past 10 years. That's why I am looking for some sort of certification I can do while working.

Small world!
I would not either Solar, but the person asking the question is not as old as we are, and there was no Freeswitch back then. People did not write code back then, it was written by a select few, like mr Spencer. The world is a very different place now, telecoms too. Nowadays Freeswitch and Asterisk are just "dumb" components which we control via REST/ESL. The magic has shifted from telephony to more powerful applications written in modern languages like GoLang.

Kiresh, if you are looking for an epic mission with an awesome reward, go learn to code in GoLang. See what guys are getting paid here: https://swiftmomentum.com/salary-calculator/

We used to send our Junior techs to VOIP Magic http://www.voipmagic.co.za/ for basic VOIP and Linux training. I think you can also do more advanced stuff with them. They Offer DCAP exam Prep on their website.
