I live in an old apartment and two of the ceiling light setting are dimmers, with two and three light sockets.
I purchased 14W (=75W) non-dimmable energy-savers, because they were on special, believe that while they are not dimmable, they would still work when the dial is turned all the way up. Well, they don't. They cause the light switch to emit a loud buzzing noise which is echoed by the fuse box.
I have replaced the 14W ones with dimmer and weaker 11W ones (also 'non-dimmable') which as lessened the buzz considerably. On most days, it does not buzz at all...And I noticed a faint buzz when I still had the incandescent ones in there...
What I want to know is, why these energy savers do not work in dimmable settings and if I should be worried about this buzzing sound at all...
Thanks
