Directx 11 concern, buy new machine

DX10 was not a failure, not by a long shot.
Unfortunately people don't understand a API is exactly that, it's not an application,l tech demo or game. It's an API. At the time of release DX10 was the best real time graphics API available and DX11 builds on that. MS stated many times that DX10 added flexibility and speed more than anything else. Integration vs specialization (DX9 and lower)
the tool will once again be the most advanced available, whether developers take advantage of it or not is an entirely separate issue.
 
From what I read on Anandtech, Direct 3D 11 (The actual thing you are worried about) will be a superset of D3D10, but it won't be a total change like 9 to 10 was. With 11, Microsoft are really tightening up loose ends, and while introducing some new features, it's not going to cause the upheaval the previous change was.

Anyway, there are precious few games that really even take advantage of D3D10, let alone 11. So need to worry about anything at this point.
