Stupid ****ing Windows 8 with all its stupid ****ing Windows Updates.

I'm sitting in the company's head office this week in Windhoek. the simplest and fastest way to connect to the network (Thanks to corporate paranoia about hackers) is to just VPN like I do from our South African office. So I have this sweet Samsung LTE access point loaded with 1 GB data (R30 for a week - Vodacom take note). The LTE is blazing fast - I can see Telecom Namibia's LTE tower from my window. Its actually faster than the office Wifi that I still need clearance to use.

Its so goddamn fast that Windows updates just downloaded 900 MB of updates in 15 minutes and capped me. Dammit man! I thought I'd switched everything off. I'd stopped the Windows Update service and set its startup to Manual.

Anyone have a list for me of all the stupd places I have to go and disable the stupid updates in Windows 8?

HI, although there are some differences depending on the make of your laptop, rule of thumb is just to open windows update, click on "change settings" on the right hand side, open the drop down and chose either, "never check for updates" or "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them"

The second option would be best as you will still be notified about available updates.

Keep in mind that some laptops have manufacturer updating systems as well, but most of these should ask you before they do an update.
