Can someone plz give me a way to disable the Web Server on my Linux Server... I Have no Idea how to do this but i know the basics....

Help would be appreciated

Firstly at my work we have a new website another company is hosting the webpage. From outside our network accessing the webpage it works but inside our network it shows that default webpage on the linux server "Web Site underconstruction". The domain names are the same.

when i login via my browser i can see my linux webservers address is the same as the one hosted.

I only want to remove this.

First give us the output of:
uname -a

were do i this...

Do you have ssh or physical access to the the Linux server?

Do you know anything about Linux?

You type the above command in the terminal (similar to command prompt of windows), but if you do not have admin (root) access to the server then it would be best to ask the IT department how to do it.

I'm the IT department. I'm a Certified A+ technician & i mostly work on windows OS's but my knowledge about configuring any Linux OS's is limited when it comes to problems.

I mostly access the linux server's via Putty App or web browser. I know how to install Linux (client & server OS's) & mixed with windows.

Network Setup:::
  • 2 Linux Server's. 1 is for Data & thee other for email & internet access.
  • 15 Windows OS's (mixed Xp & 2000).

The best thing know for me is to give more details about this problem. All i wanna do is switch off both of these server's acting as a web server.

Once you logged in with putty, issue the command I gave you.

Once you have that info for us we can take it further.
