Disappointed with MTN

As a Mtn customer of many years I am extremely disappointed with my recent dealings with them. During May/June I went to a local Mtn franchise to upgrade my cell phone. One of the options offered was the Imate SP3i on Mycall100 at R79/mth for 24 months which I requested they obtain for me. However I was contacted later to say that they had no more stock and it was a discontinued model. They said however they would continue to attempt to get hold of one for me. I was subsequently contacted to say that they can now get me the phone but as the “special” was over it would now cost R129/mth.

It appears that Mtn was holding back on the phones until their advertised special was over – the local franchise is still trying to get the phone for me at the originally advertised price but now suddenly although stock available was confirmed they are struggling to get hold of one.

Hey, why don't you go for the SP5? It's much better than the SP3.

Ask them about it.

I am currently using the sp3 and I'm happy with it - I have considered the SP5 but it is currently double the price of the SP3i and I don't think the benefits justify the additional price:)
I might however be wrong about this as I have not done much research yet

My rant however was about Mtn's bad service.

maybe this should be a mtn forum?
 
My problem got sorted out within 3 days thanks to mtn dta dude...if anyone has a problem i suggest you speak to him

I was an MTN customer for a few years. When it came time to take out a new contract I couldn't get a suitable phone. When I tried to come to some reasonable agreement, then complained about the inflexibility I was pretty much told that if I didn't like it I could take my business elsewhere. And I did. Silly thing is that just a couple of weeks later they offered the exact same phone on the contract I had had with MTN.

I'm waiting at the moment for someone from MTN to contact me because I am wanting to start making use of mobile data access. Hoping that I can get a phone and contract combination that is suitable, and that is within what I can spend as an initial foray into this arena.

MTNDD thanks for your help so far - however it appears that you are fighting a lone battle to improve customer service as I have yet to receive any comunication from those you have referred the matter to.
The local franchise still appears to be struggling to obtain the phone.

I've emailed the Channel Manager again I can't believe this
